Philippa graduated as a Physiotherapist from Guy’s hospital in 1986 and has specialised in neurology since 1989. Since qualifying she has worked in several London NHS teaching hospitals including the Royal Free, Charing Cross and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. She gained a wide range of experience in both acute and long-term neurorehabilitaion, working within the hospital and community settings.
In 1995 she moved to Kings College Hospital as the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist. Here she coordinated the Physiotherapy input into outpatient clinics including the Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone disease, Parkinson’s disease, Orthotics, Botulinum Toxin, Spasticity and the Movement disorders clinics. She also coordinated the physiotherapy service on the neurosurgical and acute neurology wards working closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
Philippa completed her Masters degree in Neurophysiotherapy at University College London in 2002 and was involved in teaching on variety of postgraduate/ MSc courses and providing clinical supervision to several NHS services.
In 2003 – 2010 she worked on a part time basis for Edwards and Associates, providing Medico Legal Neuro-Physiotherapy Expert witness reports for adults with acquired brain injury.
Philippa left Kings College Hospital in 2007 due to family commitments and moved to Buckinghamshire in 2010. She started work for Chiltern Neurophysiotherapy in 2013. She has particular interests in the management of long-term neurological conditions, acquired brain injury, spasticity management, facial paralysis and vestibular rehabilitation.
Philippa works closely with patients and their families in setting functional, realistic and relevant goals and liaises with other members of the team involved.
Philippa is a member of the Health Professions Council, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology.
