WATER-BASED PHYSIOTHERAPY
Exercise effectively in water
We can offer water-based Physiotherapy [aquatic therapy] to our clients either in their own pool or source a local pool if the water temperature is not critical to their ability to exercise effectively in water.
The therapists are trained in this form of Physiotherapy and will always be in the water with you.
Aquatherapy offers many benefits and it utilises the properties of the water, such as increased buoyancy, resistance and turbulence to relieve aches and pains, mobilise stiff joints and strengthen weak muscles.
An initial land-based appointment is necessary prior to any pool session, which will enable the Physiotherapist to establish your physical ability, changing requirements, access needs into the pool and health & safety precautions.
Treatment usually consists of gentle stretching, floatation and relaxation exercises, strengthening exercises against the resistance of the water and movement exercises within the water.
